Rubbermaid Closet Shelves Instructions

Shelves are usually important features to any closet in the home, providing you extra space to store linens, seasonal clothing and organizational storage bins. If you have extra wall space in your closet, Rubbermaid makes it easy to get more use out of the closet with adjustable shelving. The durable shelves hold up to 500 pounds, allowing you to store just about anything. Once you buy the closet shelving kits, installation is quick and easy. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose an area in the closet to add shelving and determine which shelf sizes fit your needs. Rubbermaid shelves come in depths of 8, 10 and 12 inches.

2. Determine the shelf width for your closet. The number of brackets you will need depends on the width. For example, if you want a shelf width of three feet, Rubbermaid recommends using three brackets and three upright tracks.

3. Mark where you want the tracks to be installed. They will need to be placed within a foot of each other, so mark where the first track is to go and measure one foot over and make another mark.

4. Install the tracks in your desired location, using a level to make sure they are plumb so shelving is even. Install all tracks depending on shelf width. Secure the tracks to the wall using a 2-inch Phillips flathead screw for a single track, or a 2 ½-inch Phillips screw for the twin track every six inches down the track.

5. Insert the brackets into the holes on the track at desired height all the way across, making sure all brackets are level so shelves will be secure.

6. Lay shelving onto the brackets and begin to use as storage.
