Space Saver Ideas

No matter how much space you have, you always tend to need more of it. So whether you live in a small house or large, want to add storage space or simply clean up some clutter, eventually you will need space-saver ideas and ought to consider these. Does this Spark an idea?

Make Better Use of Your Closets

Start with your closets, which are excellent places to store items that you do not use on a regular basis. Take advantage of all the space in the closets by moving the clothes bar higher or lower so that you can add another. Shelves are helpful as well so try, depending on the available space, to place at least one or two in each closet. The easiest way to do this is to purchase a closet kit from a home-improvement or department store.

Once the closet design is finished you will need appropriately labeled bins and boxes to organize small items. Keep items that are similar to one another in the same containers. You might also want to invest in hanging shoe organizers that fit over closet doors. By getting the shoes off of the floor you will be able to free up space that could be put to better use. For the storage of large comforters and pillows that are not used on a regular basis, you will want to purchase large-space bags. These bags are zipped closed and then compressed by vacuuming the excess air out.

Reduce Redundant Clutter

When going through the house look for items that you have in excess. You may not realize it, but you probably have a large box full of duplicate items you really do not need. For example, each bed in the house needs only two sheet sets: one on the bed, the other ready for washing. You only need for two bath towels, two washcloths and two hand towels for each member of the household. If you have more than this you probably have too many. Since most households wash clothes, towels and bed sheets on a regular basis, eliminating the extras should not hurt at all.

Cut Back in the Kitchen

Moving into your kitchen, how many cooking spoons and spatulas do you have? If you have more than the number of burners on your stove plus an additional one or two for the oven, you have too many. The same goes for pots, pans, bowls, plates and silverware. By tossing or donating your extra household items you will greatly improve the amount of space in your home.
