Store your home furnishings properly.
When you are moving or need to temporarily store your furniture somewhere else, a storage container is a suitable option. These containers provide you with a durable storage space that prevents weathering and damage to your furniture. Whether you rent a portable storage container that can be kept on your property, or if you rent a storage unit from your local storage facility, you must get it to the unit safe and properly. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Wrap breakable mirrors and glass items in bubble wrap. Wrap furniture either in moving blankets, or wrap the furniture in large furniture bags or clear wrap. Using bags and wraps works well when you fear that bugs and moisture may be in your storage unit, as this provides an airtight seal.
2. Line the base of the storage container with pallets or wood so the items are elevated a bit. This allows air to circulate plus helps protect the furniture from flood damage.
3. Twist legs off of large tables when possible and wrap individually in bubble wrap or moving wrap.
4. Move your items carefully into the storage container. Place large items like sofas and beds on their side in an upright position as this will maximize space in your storage container.
5. Place lamps and smaller furniture items into moving boxes, as this allows you to easily stack the boxes instead of finding a way to place odd shaped items into the unit. Store larger items to the back of the unit, and fill in with your smaller items.
