Make More Storage In A Bedroom

Any bedroom can more functional and easy to use by adding more space to place clothing and other necessities. Storage can be elegant, inexpensive and coordinate with existing décor. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use the space underneath the bed. Bedrooms are full of space that may be overlooked or underused. One such space is underneath the bed. If you have a high-perched bed or even one that is low to the ground, you can utilize this space. Low beds can be made higher with the addition of simple rubber blocks that fit under each bed post and raise it. For organized space, purchase simple plastic boxes with lids to keep out the dust. Slide the boxes underneath the bed. Conceal the boxes with large dust ruffles so that they can barely be seen.

2. Use closets efficiently. Purchase closet organizers to make more effective use of space already present. An ideal organizer should slide out for easy access to items. Look for specific uses such as tie racks and lingerie drawers to make organization even easier.

3. Create a walk-in closet. A walk in closet can be an excellent way to store items. If you don't already have one have a carpenter make one for you. You can steal space away from an unused corridor, place space above a staircase or even push a room outward. Walk-in closets can add value to a home, so the investment may be recouped.

4. Hang plastic pockets over the side of a door. Plastic pockets are designed to be placed against the side of a door and hold shoes. The plastic pockets can also be used for other items such as stockings, socks or even hair ribbons and bows. Conceal the pockets from view with a hanger that blends into the color of the door.

5. Utilize previously unused space. Use the bottoms and tops of closets. The bottom of a closet can make the perfect place to store shoes, hats and gloves. Top shelves can be an ideal place to store bulkier items such as thick coats and heavy sweaters. Organize closets so that seasonal items are grouped by category. Store winter clothes in one place and summer clothes in another. Grouping items together can make them easier to find and help you take up less space in your closets.
