Make A Shirt Rack

Making your own shirt rack will organize your closet space.

Making a shirt rack is a project that will make your closet more organized, and will mean that your shirts are less creased. Making a shirt rack does not require complex equipment, and can be completed in less than an hour. Although you can improvise equipment, the more enduring shirt racks are the ones that use PVC piping which is available from hardware stores. After building a shirt rack, you can apply the same knowledge to create storage solutions for the rest of your home. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure how wide your closet is. Cut your PVC pipe to the appropriate length. On the wall of the closet where the brackets will be attached, make a mark 6 inches below the top corners. Using a straight edge, draw a line from the top left corner to the right hand mark and vice versa, so you are left with a cross. At the point where the lines cross, you will insert the bracket. Repeat this on the other wall where the bracket will go. Your brackets will now be both centered and level.

2. Screw or nail the brackets into the wall, making sure that they are fully attached. Place the PVC pipe on the brackets to complete the shirt rack when they are both attached.

3. Hang the shirts on the rack using hangers. You can hang as many shirts as you like, and they will remain neat.
