Storage Ideas For Laundry

Store and organize the items in your laundry room neatly.

Organizing and storing things for your laundry does not have to require unsightly storage bins or piles of clothes on the floor. Using smart storage solutions, you can clean up your laundry room before you use it for your laundry. Does this Spark an idea?

Laundry Chute

Rather than a hamper in one part of your home, for a multistory home, install a laundry chute directly above the laundry room. This storage solution sends the clothes straight from the floor above into the laundry room. Ideally, have the plans for a laundry chute in mind when building a custom home to allow for the space during construction. Once built, you will not have to worry about dirty clothes in a hamper becoming musty or forgotten. Have a basket at the base of the chute in the laundry room to catch the clothes sent down the chute.

Under Washer Drawers

Should your washer and dryer load from the front, consult an appliance dealer for drawers specially built to be placed under the washer and dryer. Use these drawers to secret away cleaning supplies, laundry detergents and fabric softeners.

Ironing Board Storage

Keep your ironing board close at hand by installing a wall-mounted folding ironing board. These fold up into the wall after use to keep them close at hand to the cleaned laundry but out of the way. Look for these at hardware stores and home organization stores.

Overhead Cabinets/Shelves

Keep cleaning products, laundry baskets and other cleaning items off the floor by building overhead closed cabinets or open shelving. The closed option will hide the products from view, but open shelving allows you to see exactly what you have and often costs less than cabinets. Choose the option that fits best in your laundry room decor.
