Measure Mirrored Bifold Closet Doors

Replacing your boring closet door with fully functional mirrored bi-fold doors requires proper measuring before ordering the door. Measuring for mirrored bi-fold doors is generally the same as measuring for standard bi-fold doors. Measurements must be taken from the closet opening and not the current door itself. This is because the frame around the opening settles over time and becomes out of square. Measuring the opening allows you to purchase the correct size mirrored bi-fold closet door that will operate correctly. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Close the closet doors before measuring, if you currently have a bi-fold door. If you have a sliding closet door, open the door so you have access to both upper corners of the opening. If you have a standard hinged closet door, simply open the door.

2. Take all measurements for the door opening from the front of the upper track, if you currently have bi-fold doors. If you have a sliding or hinged door, take the measurements from the hinge side of the door opening or the rear of the sliding door tracks.

3. Measure the width of the opening from one corner to the opposite corner with a tape measure. Take the measurement from the top, middle and bottom of the closet door opening. Write down the smallest of the three measurements as the width necessary for the mirrored closet door.

4. Take the height measurement from the top to the floor on the left side, right side and middle of the opening. Measure from the inside top of the opening to the floor. Use the smallest of the three measurements as the height necessary for your new mirrored doors.
