Make A Purse Hanger

If you're like a lot of women---or you live with one---you know that purses tend to multiply. A collection of three or four cute purses tends to grow exponentially, so after a few seasons of sales, it's possible to have two dozen purses hanging around your house. The problem is that they don't actually hang---they pile up on shelves or in drawers, and before you know it, the purses need an entire room or closet just for themselves. You can alleviate the problem of the purse invasion by creating a simple purse hanger. By mounting this on the back of your closet wall, you'll be able to keep your purses organized and neat, making it far easier to see what you have, and swap them out seasonally. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select a space in your closet. The ideal spot for your purse hanger is going to be one that you can access easily. You're going to mount the hanger vertically, so it won't take up too many linear feet of closet space. You'll need an area about a foot wide that you can get to. Don't worry if there are clothes or coats in front of it occasionally, because you can always slide them out of the way to reach the purse hanger.

2. Mount the wire shelving. Hang it vertically, so that you have a wire frame 10 inches across, and 4 to 6 feet high. Mount it about a foot up from the baseboards and floor. Use the manufacturer's hardware to put it in place securely.

3. Attach hooks to the wire shelving. Figure out where you wish to place the hooks. You should space them at intervals so you can access your purses easily, but keep them close enough together that you can get all your purses on the hanger. Fit the hooks in place securely so that they won't fall off when you hang a purse.

4. Organize your purse collection on the hangers. You may wish to sort them seasonally or by color. Hang them on the hanger, and swap them out as needed.
