Build A Closet Organizer

Having an organized closet is a good feeling and makes it easier to find your things. Take the time to design a plan and place all anchors to shelving into studs. A secure closet will prevent you from having to fix or repair it later on. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Locate the closet in which you want to build an organizer and take measurements in the sections you want to build. Decide whether you want double closet rods, shelves, drawers and shoe organizers.

2. Go to a local hardware store and buy the materials based on the design you decided on.

3. Figure your layout of the organizer and mark all your studs with a pencil and use a stud finder. This means to draw out level lines at desired heights and add 1 by 4 lumber for supports of the shelving.

4. Cut 1 by 16 lumber for shelves to desired length according to measurements and design. Nail 1 by 4 support studs to areas marked on the wall. Nail 1 by 16 lumber for the shelves to the 1 by 4 supports.

5. Install closet rods and support brackets. Screw closet rod support brackets (which are nailed into studs) to shelving.

6. Put closet rod cup holders at the desired area and cut closet rods to desired length. Place closet rod into the closet rod cup holder and screw one screw in closet rod to secure it.
