Decorating Houses With Mirrors

Some framed mirrors could be considered pieces of art.

Using mirrors to decorate a home can change the look of a room when different sizes and shapes are used. Antique framed mirrors or modern styles add just the right feature to many rooms, and beveled edges give an elegant and finished look to an otherwise ordinary mirror. Adding a mirror to a room or hallway may be just the finishing touch it needs. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place a mirror under a centerpiece on the dining room table. Enjoy the reflection of a bouquet of flowers or lighted candles.

2. Hang a mirror in the entranceway of your home. Entranceways that need more light will benefit from the mirror capturing light from outside. Mount decorative hooks along the sides and use to display pretty summer hats.

3. Cover a large wall with a variety of shapes and sizes. Select unusual frames and lay the mirrors on the floor. Arrange the mirrors until the most aesthetic display is found. Hang the mirrors in the same positions on the wall.

4. Open up a corner with a pair of floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Use the mirrors to showcase a piece of art on a pedestal. A statue or bust can be enjoyed from different angles by simply looking in the mirror.

5. Use mirrors on sliding closet doors to give the appearance of a larger room. Mirrors on bedroom closet doors serve the dual purpose of hiding plain doors and checking your appearance in a full length mirror.

6. Place small mirrors at the back of book shelves. Self-adhesive mirrors with peel-off backing will add depth to a shelf and brighten the area. Self-adhesive mirrors can be purchased at home improvement centers or discount stores.
