Organizing A Walkin Closet

Rearrange the wardrobe in your walk-in closet.

A walk-in closet is a large storage area with shelves, drawers, cupboards and hangers that you can walk into. A well-organized walk-in closet with neatly arranged clothes, shoes and accessories is not only visually pleasing but increases storage space and makes it easier to find items. Depending on personal taste, install walk-in closet organizers that compartmentalize your closets to remove clutter. Although time-consuming, organize the closet well, so you know what you have and use it accordingly for the season. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all the items from your closet and pile them on clean sheets spread over the floor. Roughly divide clothing into separate bundles, such as dress shirts, formal pants, casual shirts, sweats, sweaters, scarves, dresses, caps, undergarments and accessories. Separate items you will not use or ones that are torn and you need to mend or discard.

2. Vacuum the closet while everything is still down and line shelves with clean sheets of paper, if necessary.

3. Step back to determine how you want everything to go back in the shelves and racks in your walk-in closet. The closet is a personal space that reflects an individual's style and taste. Visualize how you want your closet to look.

4. Hang your formal clothes and jackets. Dedicate a cupboard to your formal pants and dress shirts so you hang these together. Use multi-pant hangers that minimize space taken by dress clothes and allow you to group similar-colored pants together. Hang your formal dresses in the cupboard, but not in front, as this space should be reserved for items you use often.

5. Fold casual shirts, pants and sweats and place them on separate shelves. You need these items everyday, so keep them at arm's length where you can access them easily.

6. Place undergarments in drawers. Fold your undergarments to create piles of casuals and silks and place in a drawer or two where they are stored but out of sight. Add a small chest of drawers to your closet if needed.

7. Pack out-of-season clothing and accessories in tote boxes and bags to save them. Place the boxes on the highest shelf in your shelving unit or a separate cupboard if your walk-in closet is large.

8. Hang a shoe organizer in a corner of your closet to save valuable floor space. Depending on the number of shoes you have, keep all pairs in the organizer or store casuals in it and place formals in the lowest shelf of the unit.

9. Mount hooks in your shelf for scarves, belts and purses. If you have rack space, place the accessories in different storage boxes and place on racks. You can also use vertical belt and tie racks to hang plenty of accessories without compromising on space.
