Remove & Replace A Pvc Closet Flange

If you can use a drill, you can remove a PVC closet flange.


Replacing or resetting a toilet often comes with an unwelcome surprise--a broken closet flange. Finding a broken PVC closet flange under the toilet is a common occurrence. Removing and replacing a PVC closet flange used to be a challenge for plumbers and do-it-yourselfers, until the innovation of the PVC fitting removal tool. Using the tool is safe, convenient and fast. The removal tool now cuts closet flange replacement time by more than half. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


Remove PVC Closet Flange


1. Clean the old wax ring off the closet flange with paper towels.


2. Lock a PVC fitting removal tool into a 1/2-inch drill.


3. Insert the tool into the sewer pipe and begin drilling off the old PVC closet flange according to the manufacturer's instructions.


4. Remove all debris from around the pipe with a shop-vac.


Replace PVC Closet Flange


5. Set the new flange on the pipe and center the boltholes with a tape measure.


6. Mark the center line of each bolt location on the floor with a pencil.


7. Apply PVC primer and glue to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the new flange.


8. Push the new flange on the sewer pipe and line up the boltholes with the pencil marks on the floor.


9. Screw in a minimum of four anchors into the floor to hold the flange in place.
