Diy Bathroom Storage

Create storage in your bathroom with inventive techniques.

Having inadequate storage space can be frustrating---especially in the bathroom. There are many items in your bathroom that you need and use daily, but those can easily turn into clutter: toiletries, personal appliances and hair products. Fortunately, there are several ways to create storage, even in bathrooms that are very small. With just a few inventive techniques, you can add more than enough space on which to place and in which to keep everything. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use a vanity instead of a pedestal sink.

Utilize built-in storage. Make the pieces already in use in the bathroom pull double duty by providing not only function but also storage. Instead of a pedestal sink, buy a vanity that fits into the same space. You can find models with shelves, drawers, cabinets and open display space. Instead of a mirror over the sink, put up a mirrored cabinet. This adds storage without sacrificing any floor space. When shopping, be sure to look not just at the outside style but also at the inside design of cabinets; you want plenty of space between the shelves for bottles and products of all sizes.

2. Stack items on shelf stands.

Make use of shelves. Shelving can double or even triple available storage space. There are wall-mounted units, shelving racks made to stand over the toilet, hanging shelves on hooks that can be suspended from the toilet basin or from the shower curtain rod, and corner shelving units that allow you to utilize corner space. You can also find free-standing shelf racks. Make sure to purchase your shelf units made of materials that won't warp in a damp bathroom environment.

3. Store bulky items such as toilet paper.

Try storage furniture pieces. This technique won't work in smaller bathrooms, but in larger bathrooms with the extra space, bring in a wardrobe, cabinet or armoire. This solution works well if your vanity lacks storage or if you need an in-bathroom linen closet for clean towels, washcloths, bedding and blankets. You can also store bulky items such as rolls of paper towels, large packs of extra toilet paper, blow dryers and the like.
