Create a design statement in your room with your wardrobe.
Wardrobe racks are a convenient way to store clothing and other fashion accessories if you have limited space in your closet. Decorate with them in a way that makes them an attractive addition to your home as well as a functional storage solution. Whether you have one in metal or wood, dress it up to fit into your interior design style, rather than stick out as an unpleasant focal point in the space. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Paint the wardrobe rack if it needs sprucing up, using spray paint meant for the material it is. For example, an old silver metal rack can be made to fit into a traditional setting if painted a crisp white or the color of the wall it will be set against.
2. Use quality hangers to organize your clothes on the rack. For example, hang your wardrobe on matching wooden hangers for a sophisticated feel, silver-toned ones in a retro or contemporary room, or on fabric-covered hangers for a more custom look.
3. Hang your clothes in an eye-pleasing way. For example, color-coordinating them looks very organized while mixing up the colors adds a touch of whimsy. Play around with the arrangement until it looks attractive to you.
4. Put your most attractive clothes at the ends if that is what everyone sees when they walk into the room. For example, choose your favorite cocktail dress or vintage Zoot Suit to display most prominently.
5. Store personal or smaller items in decorative storage containers if the wardrobe rack has a top or bottom shelf. Options include vintage hatboxes, shoe boxes wrapped in decorative paper or color-coordinated plastic tubs.
6. Hang hooks on the end of the shelves to display jewelry, hats, scarves or ties. Not only does this keep your accessories within easy reach, it adds more color and personality to your decor.
7. Install hooks, or shelves, above or around the wardrobe rack if it does not have a built-in shelf to arrange your fashion accessories on. Another option is to choose artwork to display that coordinates with the fashion theme, such as a shabby chic picture of high-heeled shoes or a well-dressed tuxedo man.
