Get Help Organizing Your Kid'S Clothes

Older children should be involved in the clothing organization process.

Kids grow up fast, and with the inherent physical changes can come myriad problems arranging their vast amounts of clothing. Different sizes and styles can be strewn all over their rooms (and sometimes yours), leading to a messy, chaotic appearance to your house. But you don't have to fight this battle alone. Enlist the help of others to organize your childrens' clothing, and create the calm, peaceful atmosphere you've always craved in your home. And as a bonus, there will be no more last-minute running around searching for lost garments again!

Instructions

1. Call up a few friends who have children the same age (or around the same age) as yours. Ask for their assistance in organizing your childrens' clothing. Make an enjoyable day of the occasion by playing music while you work and even pouring a little wine (it may be wise to only serve alcohol if the children will not be home). Let your friends know it will be more of a festive, party atmosphere than one in which to do onerous chores. Ask your friends for any strategies they use in arranging their own childrens' wardrobes, and have them help you implement those strategies. To cut down on the clutter, let your friends take home items that your kids no longer use, or have outgrown, for their own little ones.

2. Arrange for professional organizing services, such as California Closets, to make a professional assessment of your home. Such services can be located easily online, or even in the phone book. Although they charge a fee, they may open your eyes to organizing possibilities in which you were previously unaware. Ask for an initial consultation first. Have a representative from the company suggest options that you can implement yourself, if you wish to cut down on costs. Arrange to have the company implement the solutions for you, if you have the funds or just want to save the time and effort of taking on such a large job yourself.

3. Make your children an integral part of the organization process. Depending upon their ages, there is a lot they can contribute to arranging their rooms, and indeed they should. Even small children can learn where to put clothing items so that they will be taught responsibility for themselves. Make your children aware that any clothing they fail to arrange to your satisfaction may be donated to charity.
