A new closet can stay neat and tidy if organized effectively.
Once you have a new closet installed in your home, your next job will be filling it with all of the various items that you need to store. While this can seem like a simple, mindless task, the way you organize your newly installed closet can make a big difference. A poorly organized closet will end up wasting time and effort in the future and may even cause your items being stored to be damaged or ruined. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Gather all of the materials and items that you want to store in the closet. These items can include clothes, shoes, handbags, linens, towels, toys, games and many other items.
2. Purchase a few large clear plastic storage containers with drawers that slide out. Place items in the drawers that go together but that can easily stack without being ruined, such as toys or handbags.
3. Place items that can be ruined by stacking, such as shoes, on shelves within the closet. If the closet doesn't have shelves, purchase racks to place these items on.
4. Establish a system for organizing the clothes inside your closet. Separate your clothing by type of clothing, season and color. This means that all of your t-shirts will be together, all your jeans will be together and so forth. Organize each of these categories by season so that all your warm weather clothes are on one side of the closet and all your cold weather clothes are on the other. Finally, organize each category by color ranging from lightest to darkest or vice versa.
5. Hang up the clothes in the order in which you organized them. The clothes need to be hung on appropriately sized hangers and then placed on the bar inside the closet.
6. Stack linens and towels on the top shelf of the closet. This is an ideal place for these items because it's out of the way, but still visible and accessible enough that you can easily access them when you need them.
7. Fill the rest of the shelves with any other items you want to store inside the closet, such as winter hats and gloves, games or extra pillows for guests.
