Build A Split Pantry Linen Closet

Turn any unused closet space into a useful organized area.

A pantry is a useful storage space within a kitchen, housing kitchen tools, seldom-used appliances, special occasion dishes, and canned foods. Similarly, a linen closet is an organizational necessity for storing towels, washcloths, sheets, pillowcases, blankets, as well as kitchen. A split pantry linen closet can provide an advanced level of organization. You can easily convert a closet you already have into a split pantry linen closet. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Take everything out of the closet and clean it completely. Remove everything including shelves and hardware.

2. Consider what will be stored in the closet and pantry. Divide the closet in half to use one side as the pantry and the other side for linen storage. Measure the closet paying attention to where you have placed the division to calculate the size of shelves you will need. Place marks on the wall to guide installation of the shelves and divider.

3. Decide what type of shelving to use: plastic, wire, wood, or metal. Wire shelves work well in the pantry to allow for easy passing of food, while wood works best for linens. Select the shelves and buy the necessary hardware for installation based on the type of shelving selected.

4. Cut the shelves to fit the closet if unable to buy shelves precut to the dimensions measured earlier. Install the shelves according to the predetermined measurements.

5. Create a divider between the two shelves using a curtain that or other material that differentiates the two sides of the closet.

6. Organize the closet using specialty racks to hold spices, packets of seasonings, and lids for pots, pans, and storage container. Use baskets of different sizes to store washcloths and pillowcases.
