Car Organizer Tutorial

People who lead busy lives often find that their cars become a kind of office on wheels. Their car can become filled with papers, letters, folders and documents of all sorts. In addition, there are cell phones, CDs, discarded wrappers and other items that seem to find their way into your car. Fortunately, if you take an organized approach, it is not too difficult to bring order to the chaos.

Instructions

1. Sort though the accumulation of things you have in your car. Search everywhere, on the floorboards, in the side compartments, under seats, in the glove compartment and the trunk. Make four piles. This first is those things that you use all the time, like your cellphone or your headphones. The second should be things you use occasionally, like maps or the registration for your car. The third should be things you need for emergencies, like flares, matches or a battery powered radio. The final pile should be for everything else, which should be remove from your car.

2. Prioritize the piles. Choose which of these items need to be near you when you are driving, and which can be relegated to the middle storage compartment, the glove compartment or the trunk. Remove extra items. For example, if you use lip balm, you need only one tube, not five half used extras.

3. Purchase an install additional storage devices for the inside of your car, such as hangers for cloths, leak proof trash containers and clips for keeping things on your visor. Also purchase a compartment storage unit for the trunk of your car to keep things from rolling around. Put everything in its place. Develop a habit of returning each item to the location you picked for storing it.
