Start A Professional Organizer Business

If you have great organization skills, and would like to start your own business, becoming a professional organizer may be just the fit for you.

Instructions

1. With the hectic lives many of us lead, professional organizers are becoming a big demand. Professional organizers are needed not only for offices and retail locations, they are also becoming increasingly popular in residential settings.

2. To become a professional organizer, you obviously need to be a very organized person with the patience to go through items systematically. This profession can be very time consuming and require many returned visits to not only get the job done, but continue to keep things organized in the future, creating a great opportunity for continual income.

3. The first step is to determine which area you would like to begin with. Are you more interested in residential organizing or commercial. You can definately do both, but to focus on one in the beginning will make it much easier for your marketing efforts in that you can be more focused.

4. Once you have determined where to start (residential or commercial) you will need to layout the services you will be offering. If you choose to start residentially, will you focus on garages and closets, or basements and attics.

5. You will then need a clear understanding of how you will accomplish the organizing. Will you be required to have special totes and boxes, or will you ask the customer to provide containers? What about file folders or trays? You will need to determine what items will be required to carry out the process, as well as who will provide it.

6. Price is another major consideration. Will you be pricing by the hour or per job. The best way to determine your price schedule will be to call around or look online to see what others are charging. Start with the average of what you find, you can always adjust your prices later. But don't forget to factor in your cost of gas, supplies and equipment into each job.
