Prevent Nonpayment On Ebay

EBay has become one of the most popular on line auctions. There are ups and downs to shopping and selling on EBay but you will go through them all at some point, more than likely. There is a way to prevent people from not paying when they buy your item. Now because you don't ship until they pay, you aren't out on money but it's inconvenient. You have to re-list the item or hope the next highest bidder wants the item, etc. Here are a few tips on prevent those non-paying Ebayers!

Instructions

Prevent Non-Payment on Ebay

1. Do a Review. You might have some previous or current non-payers and if you keep track well enough you can go through your past sales and write down the user-names of those who did not pay for their won auctions. Even if a dispute was filed and everything was settled, by keeping track of those who did not pay you, you can help prevent them from trying to buy from you later on in the future if they have the same intentions.

2. Pay attention to your bidders feedback. Non-paying bidders are usually those that have little or no feedback. This is not always the case however! Pay attention to this when selling your items because you might be able to prevent them before they win your item. If you notice a bidder with little or no feedback, check out what feedback they do have. You can usually tell this way if they are good at paying for their purchases.

3. Avoid negative feedback. Many EBay sellers now prohibit users with negative feedback from bidding on their items. Many times they end with a bad transaction and would rather avoid that at all costs because it not only hurts the bidders feedback, it hurts the sellers as well. So you might consider limiting your bidders to a certain feedback rating, etc, in order to help prevent non payers on ebay. Just note this in your item's description.

4. Watch your listings. If you notice a previous non payer bidding on one of your items consider asking them if they do in fact intend on paying. I had an experience like this where she actually paid the second time. She might have paid through mail and it could have gotten lost but I received no communication from her.

5. Communicate with your bidders. Communication is a very important key to preventing non-payment. Send your invoices on time and be sure to wait on combined invoices otherwise the bidder could end up confused with all the different invoices which could delay proper payment.

6. Be descriptive. When making your listings, be sure you put how soon you expect payment from the winning bidder, how much shipping will be, if you offer returns, etc. A buyer may say they did not know this and while they could have contacted you, it is much easier to have it listed in your auction so that they have no excuse not to pay.
