What Do You Store In A Bathroom Closet

For all intents and purposes, bathroom closets should be well stocked with an organized array of bathroom essentials. But all too often, bathroom closets become a catchall for out-of-date or almost-empty cleaning supplies and cosmetics. Here are several items that should always be stored in a bathroom closet and some that should never be stored there. Does this Spark an idea?

Towels and Toilet Paper

Everything in the closet should be visible and easily accessible. Store items you don't use weekly somewhere else. Fold extra towels neatly and organize by use (beach, everyday, guest). Designate a space for hand towels and washcloths so they don't get stuck between larger towels. Leave room for extra toilet paper and extra personal care items, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, sunscreen, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste and mouthwash. Use plastic organizers to keep everything tidy.

Bandages and Gauze

According to the American Red Cross, every bathroom closet should have a first-aid kit that includes assorted adhesive bandages, antibiotic ointment packs, an instant cold compress, hydrocortisone ointment packs, roller bandages, sterile gauze, an oral thermometer and tweezers. However, never store medications of any kind in the bathroom. Heat and steam will damage them. Store all over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers, anti-allergy medications and prescription medications in another room.

Cleaning Supplies

Store all bathroom cleaning supplies, such as toilet cleaner, bathtub/shower cleaner, glass cleaner, antibacterial cleaner and reusable cloths or paper towels, in a bucket inside the closet. Store the plunger and toilet brush near the cleaning supplies to keep them close at hand but out of sight.
