What Is The Difference Between Slatwall & Pegboard

Slatwall and pegboard are both wall systems that you can use to organize items in a retail store, garage or home. Both provide an ideal way to reduce clutter and provide order to your belongings. Does this Spark an idea?

What Is Slatwall?

Slatwall is a storage product used in retail stores and, less commonly, in homes. It consists of 3/4 inch thick panels with evenly spaced boards and grooves. You can hang hooks, shelves and baskets from the slatwall, making it a versatile storage solution.

What is Pegboard?

Pegboard is a board that is usually 3/16 inches thick with 1/4-inch holes spaced one inch apart. You can place hooks, shelf brackets or baskets in the pegs.

Cost

Slatwall is more expensive than pegboard, usually costing twice as much for a similarly sized piece. However, slatwall is sturdier than pegboard.

Colors

Slatwall comes in a variety of colors and wood grains. Pegboard typically comes in white or natural but you can easily paint it.

Installation

You can screw both slatwall and pegboard into any wall. You must add spacers behind pegboard so the hooks or other accessories can fit into the holes.
