Closetmaid Installation

An organized closet makes life easier.

ClosetMaid is a company that sells semi-permanent, wire organizers designed for closets and other storage areas. The coated wire racks keep your clothes and accessories neatly organized. The installation of a ClosetMaid organizer requires some tools and experience with basic furniture construction. You may need two people to install the ClosetMaid organizer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Empty out the closet completely. Remove existing shelving and the hanging bar.

2. Measure the length and width of the closet and the shelves. Use a level to ensure that the walls and ceiling are even. Use a pencil to mark the intended location of the shelves.

3. Hang the horizontal track as close to the ceiling as possible. Most walls have a 2 by 4 running directly against the ceiling. Drill the screws directly into the 2 by 4, if possible. If not, drill into studs for the strongest installation. Use toggle bolts for drywall.

4. Mount the vertical tracks onto the horizontal track. The vertical tracks are fully adjustable. Screw into studs when possible.

5. Attach shelf brackets. Slide them into the slots located on the ends of the shelves.

6. Adjust the width of the shelves with a bolt cutter or hacksaw.

7. Cap the wire ends of the shelves with the included ClosetMaid caps.
