Assemble Closetmaid Shelving

Closets of any kind can become cluttered with different shapes and sizes of items all in one area. Closetmaid shelving is fully adjustable up and down on each standard to change positions of baskets, bins, shelves and clothes hangers. Hanging short items lower on a wall takes less space than on a traditional clothes hanger with unused space underneath them. Baskets, bins and drawers contain small items so they do not fall off clothes hangers or shelves. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place the hang track at the top of the closet wall horizontally.

2. Insert a screw into each pre-drilled hole, and tighten the screws with a drill.

3. Place a stud finder on the wall. Press and hold the activation button and turn the stud finder on. Wait for the green solid indicator light to illuminate.

4. Roll the stud finder across the wall horizontally. When there is an audible beep, mark a small "X" on the wall. This is one side of a wall stud.

5. Place the stud finder about 6 inches beyond the "X" and roll it toward the mark on the wall. When the stud finder beeps again, mark the area with another "X" to indicate the opposite side of the stud. Mark a dot in the center of the two "X" marks.

6. Repeat this process to find all the studs on the closet wall.

7. Place a standard on the wall, butting the top to the hang track at the top of the wall with the center on a stud center. A standard is the shelving that is vertical on the wall to hold baskets and hooks for storage solutions.

8. Place a screw in the center pre-drilled hole in the standard and screw it into the wall. Place screws in each standard hole and attach them to the stud.

9. Continue hanging all standards in this manner.

10. Insert the two ears on a wire shelf bracket into the standard by holding it up at a 45-degree angle. Rotate the bracket down so that it sits flat. Install an additional wire shelf bracket on the next standard at the same height. Place shelves, baskets and bins on the wire brackets.

11. Insert hanger bar supports in the front of shelves with the curve pointing up and out toward the center of the closet. Slide hanger bars into the supports to hang clothes.

12. Press plastic end caps on all hanger bars and shelving units to protect people and clothes from sharp edges.
