Get To Downtown Washington Dc From Reagan National Airport

Of the three major airports in the Washington, D.C., area, Reagan National Airport is the closest to the nation's capital. It's just four miles away. It is easily connected to downtown Washington by public transportation, putting you within reach of the White House, U.S. Capitol, National Mall and other D.C. attractions within 15 to 20 minutes.

Get from Reagan National Airport to Downtown Washington, D.C.


1. Take the Metro. It is the most reasonably priced way to get into the city, costly just a couple of dollars per person. The Washington region's subway system is dependable, clean and modern. Blue and Yellow Line trains run from the airport at the concourse (Level 2) between terminals B and C. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 5 a.m. to 12:26 a.m.; Friday, 5 a.m. to 3:26 a.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3:26 a.m.; Sunday, 7 a.m. to 12:26 a.m. To get to the Metro entrance, follow the well-marked signs in the airport.


2. Take a taxi. Fares will run approximately $16 to $20 to downtown Washington. Taxi stands are immediately outside Terminal A and outside the arrivals level of terminals B and C. Follow the signs for ground transportation.


3. Take a shuttle service. SuperShuttle and other shuttle services can ferry you into the city for less than the cost of a taxi. Make a reservation in advance.


4. Hire a private car service. Arrangements should be made in advance. Confirm your reservation before boarding your flight to Washington.


5. Consult a volunteer at the airport's Travelers Aid stations. The desks are staffed for most of the day.
