Turn A Room Into A Craft Room

A craft room becomes a respite from the busyness of life.

Crafting provides a creative outlet, a chance to unwind and relax alone or an opportunity to share a common interest with family and friends. Serious crafters accumulate a variety of supplies to use in different projects. Closets, basements and unused household surfaces, such as dining room tables, are relegated to store craft supplies in between projects. If a spare room becomes available in your home, turning it into a craft room provides you with storage and work space, as well as a room in which to enjoy your craft. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Open storage in the closet allows you to see where everything is stored.

Utilize closet space to store craft supplies. Store craft items in clear plastic storage bins and stack them on closet shelves. Hang closet organizers with open cubbies to keep fabric, yarn or other craft materials. Open and transparent containers keep materials organized and easy to find.

2. Set up a work table for making your craft projects. Consider whether you spend more time standing or sitting while crafting and use a table of the correct height so you don't have to stoop over. Add a padded chair, if you'll be sitting, so you can sit comfortably while working on your crafts.

3. An adjustable desk light lets you shine light where it's needed.

Plug in an adjustable desk light that can be maneuvered to shine light in different directions, as needed. A light with two or three light settings allows you to dim or brighten lights to avoid straining your eyes.

4. Store craft supplies repeatedly used, such as brushes, scissors, markers or sewing notions, in desktop containers. Stack or arrange the storage containers in a manner that makes sense for your craft. Place most frequently used items close to you with the items used less frequently behind them.

5. A nicely decorated display shelf shows off your creations.

Hang a few display shelves to show off your finished work. Add favorite photos or other special items to the shelves to add to the atmosphere of your craft room.

6. Store a few folding chairs and a folding table in the closet so there's extra seating and work room for friends and family. Crafting with others is an enjoyable way to spend time.
