In the '80s, there was a popular television sitcom called “Punky Brewster.” The show was about a young girl named Penelope “Punky” Brewster who was abandoned by her mother in a grocery store, along with her dog. She becomes friends with an older man named Henry, who adopts her as his daughter. Punky wore many brightly colored outfits throughout her show. This Halloween, put together a colorful, creative Punky Brewster costume that everyone will love!
Instructions
1. Wear a pair of jeans with holes in the knees. Choose light-colored jeans instead of dark-colored jeans. Add patches to the jeans if you want.
2. Dress in layered shirts. For the bottom layer, wear a bright red or other brightly colored, long-sleeved shirt. Over the long-sleeved shirt, wear a short-sleeve, blue t-shirt. Over the blue shirt, wear a pink vest. The layers should be different, bright colors, such as red, blue, yellow, orange or green.
3. Don a bright yellow belt with your jeans. Roll up one of the pant’s legs to the mid-calf point. Take a bright colored bandanna and wear it around the pant’s leg that isn’t rolled up.
4. Attach a red, heart-shaped pin to your shirt or on your vest.
5. Slip into bright colored socks and mismatched shoes. The socks can be solid colored or striped. The socks can also be mismatched. Wear mismatched hi-tops or other shoes. Add bright colored shoe laces, which can also be mismatched.
6. Put your hair in pigtails. Use sun-shaped rubber bands if you have them. If you don’t have sun-shaped rubber bands, choose other bright colored rubber bands. Wear bangs. If you don’t have bangs or brown hair, consider wearing a brown wig as part of your costume.
7. Use an eye liner pencil to create freckles, if you don’t have natural freckles. Use a brown Kohl eye pencil and dot freckles all over your face.
