Donate Clothing In Los Angeles

Instead of throwing out your old clothes when cleaning your closet, give them to people who really need them. There are numerous charities in the Los Angeles area that gladly accept donations of used clothing. Although an item of clothing may seem unstylish or undesirable to you, someone else might be happy to have it. Your clothing donation might touch the lives of people in need. Someone could wear a suit donated by you to look their best in a job interview, or a child in need could receive new school clothes that your child has outgrown.

Instructions

1. Leave your clothing donation outside your home for a charity to pick up at a scheduled time. Organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Salvation Army, Vietnam Veterans, and Habitat for Humanity will come to your house and pick your donation up for free. They will also leave you a receipt for tax purposes.

2. Drop your clothing donations off at Food on Foot. This Hollywood-based organization accepts gently worn clothing of all sizes, ranging from infant to adult. The drop-off location is located at 1625 N. Schrader Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90068.

3. Donate your used dress clothing to Dress for Success. This organization accepts donations of professional attire for women to wear on job interviews. To find donation times and places in Los Angeles, visit dressforsuccess.org and search for a specific location.

4. Bring your clothing donations to the Los Angeles Urban League. This organization collects professional, clean clothing that is brought in on hangers. They accept clothing donations of all sizes, but have an extra need for plus-size men's and women's professional clothing. Visit laul.org to find the donation center closest to you.

5. Donate used clothing to your local Goodwill. The Goodwill accepts donations of clean, wearable clothing. There are many different Goodwill stores and drop-off locations in the Los Angeles area. To find your local donation center, visit goodwill.org and click on "get involved."
