Ideas For A Closet Renovation

Closet renovations assist in organizing your small space.

The closet is an area of discontent for many homeowners and renters. Due to limited space, closets can become cluttered and disorganized, resulting in reluctance to even enter. If this is your problem, never fear, closet renovation and organization is all you need to get your closet cleaned up and kept that way. Does this Spark an idea?

Double Rod

If you have an extremely small closet and you’re finding even after removing seasonal items that it’s a cramped space, try a double rod system. Move the first rod up as high as possible and put your longer clothing on the high rod. Hang the next rod about midway up the closet and hang the shorter items. This is a fairly simple and inexpensive option that lets you use more space. Pair with multi-garment hangers, and you’ll be surprised what you can get in such a small space.

Shelving

If you have a walk-in that’s unorganized, try adding a few shelving units. Shelves can hold hats, belt and tie racks, as well as shoes. Shelves usually are made in the top of the closet, but think underneath or behind the clothes. This will allow you to hide the shelves as well, so you can store seasonal items out of your way. Getting boots off the floor during the summer will allow more room for your sandals.

Island

If you have a larger walk in closet with room in the middle, try a centered island with built in shelves and drawers. Adding locks to the drawers great place for storing jewelry and other expensive items or keepsakes. Even more space can be attained by adding a counter top to the surface of the island if needed.

Hooks

Hooks in the back or on the sides of the closet walls will use more space. Use hooks to hang handbags, hooded sweatshirts and jackets. Hooks are all easy to install and give you much more space to work with.
