Use shoe bags and other organizers to store your shoes.
Many people store shoes in the closet to keep them out of sight and prevent tripping accidents. Unfortunately, an abundance of shoes may not fit neatly on a small closet floor. Placing shoes in stacked boxes is a common solution to the problem, but makes it difficult to access shoes and tell them apart. Several special shoe organizers can help you take advantage of a small closet space so you can keep shoes neat and access them easily. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Hang a shoe bag in the inside of the closet door, a rarely-used closet space. Insert shoes into the shoe bag pockets so matching pairs are side by side. If you have more shoes than the shoe bag can accommodate, hang additional shoe bags inside the closet, on the clothes rack.
2. Place a tray, large basket or compact shelving on the closet floor. Place oversized shoes, such as boots, on or in the unit. This will keep the footwear accessible without dirtying the closet floor.
3. Store off-season or special-occasion shoes in a clear plastic bin with a lid. This preserves the condition of the shoes and keeps them out of the way during the months when you won't be wearing them. A clear container allows you to see the shoes inside when you need them. If there is no space on the closet floor or shelf for this storage, store the container in the attic or under a bed.
