Fix Mirrored Bifold Doors

Mirrored bi-fold doors operate the same as standard bi-fold except they usually have a bottom track to help support the weight of the door panels. When the door begins to bind or otherwise becomes difficult to operate, it is necessary to fix the mirrored bi-fold door before the problems become worse. The most common problems that require fixing are the door being out of adjustment, loose track screws or simply a track that requires proper lubrication. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Close the mirrored bi-fold door and check the distance between the edge pf the door and the door frame. Measure between the door jamb and door edge at the top and bottom of the door with a tape measure. The measurements should be even. If it is not, the top pivot requires adjustment.

2. Open the door fully and loosen the screw securing the top pivot bracket with a flat-head screwdriver. The pivot bracket is the flat bracket that slides inside the top track. Once the screw is loose, adjust the bracket in or out until the distance between the door edge and door jamb is even. Tighten the pivot-securing screw with the screwdriver.

3. Tighten any loose screws inside the lower track with a Phillips screwdriver. Sometimes the screws securing the lower track work loose and the screw heads interfere with the bottom door pivots.

4. Insert a small candle or candle wax into the lower track and rub down the length of the track. This lubricates the track without messy spray lubricants that sometimes attract more dirt. Repeat for the upper track.
