Kids' Bedroom Storage Ideas

It can be quite challenging to find extra storage space around your home, but it can be more challenging in children's rooms. Kids often accumulate and collect more items than most adults do, which can present a problem when they want to pile it all in their rooms. Some kids' bedroom storage ideas may give you solutions to your storage challenge. Does this Spark an idea?

Closets

Place wire shelves in the closet to store games, toys, boxes and other items and still allow space for hanging clothes. Store shoes, seasonal clothes and accessories in a hanging closet organizer. Store toys and loose items in crates or bins on the floor of the closet. They especially help to save space when you stack them.

Shelves

Install shelves all the way around the top perimeter of the bedroom, just a couple of feet beneath the ceiling. This will give you plenty of space for trophies, knickknacks, collections, toys, games, dolls or sporting goods. Another idea is to install floor to ceiling bookshelves all the way across one wall of the room.

Furniture

Children's furniture sometimes has storage space. Bunk beds are available with a bed on top and drawers below. Some bunk beds have a complete hutch attached to the bed, which may provide desk space for a computer. A piece of furniture that serves more than one purpose will eliminate the need for other furniture. For example, a bench that also serves as a toy box or a storage window seat can provide additional storage in a kid's bedroom.

Bins

Bins and similar units are sold in many colors, shapes and styles. They can be mounted on walls, stacked, or stored in a closet. Bins on wheels are available that will allow the child to move them from room to room, making it easier for him to pick up his toys and take them back to his room.

Bulletin Boards

Bulletin boards or cork boards are perfect for getting rid of paper clutter you do not have room to store. Hang up schoolwork, artwork and schedules for sports practices and games.

Hooks

Install hooks on the ceiling to hang dolls and stuffed animals. Install a couple of wooden coat racks on the walls, and hang coats and jackets on it or even pajamas or some favorite clothes.
