Home Organization Sewing Projects

If your room is messy, you can sew your own home organizing devices

Organizing your home can be a headache, and buying off-the-shelf home organizing devices can be expensive. If you love to sew and need to organize, creating organizing projects using your sewing machine. When you create organizers yourself, you can create objects that match your decor, your space and perform the exact function that you require.

Sew Fabric Shelves for Small Items

If you have piles of shoes, put one pair in each cube

We all have piles of items like shoes, craft supplies, and stuffed animals that might need some organization. Yet we don't want to use up valuable shelf space for these items. A fold-up organizer made out of fabric could be the answer. Create fabric cubes out of stiff sailcloth or linen and keep them open on one side. At the top, attach a loop so that the organizer can hang. Add as many cubes as you require and make them as small or large as you need. Hang up the organizer in a closet or from a hook. This is a good way to store a child's stuffed animals, fabric samples, or shoes in a closet.

Sew a Magnet Board for the Fridge

Use strong magnets to hold lists and art on a magnetic board

If your fridge is overwhelmed by clutter, you can consolidate that clutter and make it more attractive and organized using a magnet board. Get a piece of stainless steel and create a thick fabric cover for the steel sheet. Add a loop at the where you can hang the organizer. Match the cover to your decor. Hang the organizer from a hook on the wall. Use strong rare earth magnets to attach items to your board. This moves everything off the fridge into a place where it will not fall off.

Make a Family Organizer

Cover an old binder to make a family organizer

You may have a calendar, but there are so many other aspects to home management that it is easiest if they all live in one place. Use colorful fabric to cover a binder. Add fabric pockets to the front and back of the binder on the inside. In the binder, place relevant schedules, lists of things to do, papers that need to go somewhere outside the home, medical contact information, and all household information. In the pockets, keep coupons, receipts, outgoing mail, and other items that you need to deal with.
