Clean Sticky Wire Shelving

Wire shelving is useful for storage and is very inexpensive to install. However, wire shelving becomes dirty and sticky very quickly, and you may dread cleaning your shelving due to the intricacies of the many wire pieces. With just a few simple steps, you can have your wire shelving clean and sparkling, and you may already have the necessary cleaning supplies on hand. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all the items from your wire shelving unit. It may be helpful to take your shelving outdoors for cleaning.

2. Spray the shelving from top to bottom with degreaser or kitchen appliance cleaner. Make sure you coat the shelves thoroughly with degreaser or cleaner.

3. Allow the cleaner or degreaser to soak on your shelves for a few minutes to loosen the dirt and residue. However, don't let the cleaner dry and harden on the shelves, or you will have to start the process again from the beginning.

4. Scrub the shelves with a wire brush and soapy water. Remember to scrub the undersides of the wire to remove hidden dirt.

5. Rinse the wire shelving thoroughly with clean water and replace your items on the shelves once they are completely dry.
