Infant Closet Ideas

Organize your infant's closet.

Preparing for the arrival of your infant is an exciting time. You want everything to be perfect for your precious newborn baby. When planning the nursery, it's important to keep aesthetics in mind, but also form and function. For such a small person, infants often have a lot of stuff, including clothing, diapers and lotions. One place that should be organized well is the closet. Does this Spark an idea?

Closet Organizer

One of the easiest ways to create the ideal infant closet is to install a closet organizer. That is especially true if the closet is quite small. The exact system to use depends on your needs and budget. You may be able to purchase one and install it yourself. If you are unable to do it yourself, hire someone to install a closet organizer for you. The organizer will provide additional space for hanging clothing, as well as shelves for storing the baby's items.

Door

One area of the infant closet that may be utilized are the doors, if you are able to do so. This is an ideal way to store items such as lotions or even rolled-up clothing. To store the items, hang a shoe bag over the door, or multiple shoe bags. Put the items in the shoe bags. Another benefit is that the items will not clutter up the closet or infant's room.

Baskets

Use containers in your infant's closet to store items. If you want to be able to see the items, use plastic containers. If you would like something more aesthetically pleasing, use wicker baskets or woven baskets that are lined with fabric. Label wicker baskets with a fabric marker. Use an actual label on plastic storage bins.

Wallpaper

To decorate your infant's closet, consider wallpapering the wall on the back of the closet. This is purely for decorative purposes. If your baby is a girl, use a pretty pink patterned wallpaper on the back of the closet. Another option is to apply wallpaper to shelves in your closet, rather than the entire wall.
