Arrange Dishes In Kitchen Cabinets

Organizing kitchen cabinets is important to the efficiency and flow of any kitchen. Disorganized dishes can be chipped and broken or get lost in in the search for a specific piece. Dishes should not be stacked so they are difficult to retrieve or precariously balanced to conserve space. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Move pans, cookware and storage dishes to another cabinet if possible. Hang pans from a pan rack if cabinet space is limited, or buy a small kitchen storage cabinet for mixing bowls and smaller pans.

2. Clean the cabinet floor with a damp towel and cut cushioning shelf liner to fit the bottoms of the cabinets. Place the shelf liner inside the cabinets.

3. Analyze which dishes are used daily and keep them separate from occasionally used dishes. Place little-used dishes and cups on the top shelf of the cabinet.

4. Put special or occasional dishes in a glass-front china cabinet or display case. Even if you do not have access to such a unit, store china and glassware away from standard eating dishes to prevent cracks and chips.

5. Sort dishes by type in separate piles. Stack large plates, such as dinner plates, by themselves. Put bowls and mugs in separate portions of the cabinet.

6. Place mugs upside down along a side wall of a cabinet to prevent them from being chipped. Try placing them in a lower portion of the cabinet if they're used frequently. If cabinet space is limited, consider hanging cups by hooks on the underside of the cabinet.

7. Stack bowls together by type. Place bowls upside down for stability if cabinet space allows. Stack saucers under bowls if they're not used frequently.

8. Place glassware in a separate cabinet or portion of the cabinet. Store glasses upside down to prevent household debris from getting into the glasses.

9. Organize glassware by use and size. Keep frequently used glassware on a lower shelf and near the front. Less-frequently used glassware and stemware can be placed on a higher shelf or in a separate china cabinet.
