Instructions

Prior to Nursery Design

1. Decide on the theme of your nursery. While some parents find out the sex of the baby and decorate accordingly, other parents choose to remain surprised, in which case they choose gender-neutral themes. Cartoon characters, animals, or baby toys, flowers, are popular themes that kids and parents both like.

2. Choose a color scheme. There are virtually endless possibilities when putting colors together. Pink and green, pink and brown, or pink and yellow work well for flower gardens and other girl themes. Blue and green, blue and brown, and the traditional blue and red all complement most boy themes. Use your imagination to develop a unique color scheme for your little one’s nursery.

3. Take accurate measurements of the baby's nursery. You will need this for the virtual designers that you will employ to help you design the nursery that best fits you and your baby.

4. On the left hand side under design tools, click on "design a 3D room." Another window will open allowing you to choose to build a nursery from scratch, decorate a furnished nursery or open a saved project.

5. Choose the shape of your nursery and the items you will furnish it with by clicking on the tabs in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Paint the walls using virtual paint and hang decorations on the walls.

6. Click on "3D view" on the left to view a high-quality 3D image of the nursery you just created.

7. Save two versions of the finished nursery so that you can reflect back on it. By saving two versions, you can add or take away items that you no longer want or need from one version and still be able to view the finished product as a whole. Use the other version as a virtual to-do list; as you purchase a decorative item, remove it from the design.
