Install A Storage Cabinet

Installing a storage cabinet is the last step in building a cabinet.

When you purchase storage cabinets from a supplier, they often come with a wooden box frame, which is the body of the storage cabinet, or wooden panels that you must assemble as a box. It is often your responsibility to install the storage cabinet to a wall, for example, and attach the cabinet door. To hang a storage cabinet to a wall to mirror a floating cabinet, you need to ensure that the wall can hold the storage cabinet by finding the wall studs in the wall. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place wall stud finder on the wall where you will install the storage cabinet. Slide it horizontally across the wall slowly and stop when it beeps. Use the pencil to make a mark on the wall when the stud finder beeps. Continue until you have found at least two wall studs for the installation. Wall studs run vertically in the wall, so ensure that you drag the device horizontally.

2. Measure the distance between the two wall studs with a measuring tape using the two marks you made. Use the level to ensure the line on the wall is straight and even. Write this measurement down. Apply this measurement to inside the cabinet on the backside. Make two pencil marks to indicate the exact measurement. This is where you need to drill the screws into the cabinet, so they reach into the wall studs.

3. Use the mechanical screwdriver to screw the 3-inch-long screws through the backside of the cabinet. The screws should stick out from the back of the cabinet. When done, hold the cabinet up to wall and line the ends of the screws up to the marks made on the wall in Step 1.

4. Use the mechanical screwdriver to secure the storage cabinet to the wall. Have a friend help you hold the storage cabinet while you install it to the wall if it is heavy. After you have installed the two original screws into the two wall studs, add four additional screws vertically underneath the two original screws using the mechanical screwdriver. There should be two rows of three screws in the storage cabinet. Ensure that you've installed the storage cabinet properly before storing items in the cabinet.
