Attractive Ways To Store Baby Clothes

Keep your baby's cute togs organized so dressing her is easy.

You've lovingly selected every outfit for your new baby. It only makes sense to store those precious clothes so they can be admired instead of just stuffed in a drawer out of sight. Choose a storage system that keeps your baby's garments accessible and organizes outgrown or off-season items but still provides a cute addition to the nursery.

Baskets

Choose a square or rectangular basket for pretty storage in your nursery.

Check out your local craft store for inexpensive cotton-lined baskets and stock up. Roll clean baby clothes neatly and place them by type in a basket. For example, onesies and shirts go in one basket, pants and overalls in another, pajamas in a third, and dresses or sweaters in a fourth. Line up the baskets on a shelf or on top of the dresser to display the colorful rolls of clothing while keeping them at hand for dressing your baby.

Under-Crib Storage

Use the space beneath your baby's crib for storage.

Keep off-season baby clothes out of the way but nearby by storing them under the crib. Clear plastic under-bed storage boxes will fit under most cribs; if more space is available, use deeper containers. Fold clean baby clothes and arrange them neatly in the boxes. Label the ends with a list of important items inside (e.g., snowsuit, coat) and slide the boxes under the crib. Conceal the boxes with a dust ruffle that coordinates with your child's bedding.

Shelves or Cubbies

Canvas cubbies can store your baby's outfits and keep them organized.

Shelves or cubbies are handy and adorable ways to keep your baby's clothes organized. If your shelves don't already have separate cubbies, use cloth-covered bins to make compartments. Divide and store clothes by type.

Closet Organizers

Install a closet organizer system to maximize your space.

Modular closet organization kits are easy to find and can revolutionize your nursery closet space. Since baby clothes are so tiny, hanging them from the rod in an adult-sized closet wastes a lot of space. However, the shelving, shoe storage and small drawers of standard closet kits maximize space and organization. Designate shelves for folded items, hang garments such as coats and dresses on the rod, and use the empty space at floor level for diapers and a wastebasket. Your well-appointed closet space will make an attractive and user-friendly storage system.
