Hang Pegboard In Your Craft Room

Pegboard can hold anything with the proper hooks.

Pegboard is a useful tool for organizing and storing items with hooks on the walls of any room. Pegboard can be used in the garage for hanging tools and in the kitchen for hanging pots and pans or utensils. In the children's room, pegboard can be used to store stuffed animals on individual hooks or to create adjustable shelving in a hall closet. Pegboard is a 3/4-inch board made of either particle board, metal or plastic that is strong enough to hold multiple items of various weights without bending or breaking. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Find the studs in the wall you want to hang the pegboard on by turning on a stud finder and running the stud finder along the wall where the pegboard is to go. Mark the wall with a pencil in the places where the stud finder locates a stud.

2. Measure the length between studs on the wall using a measuring tape. Choose how wide you want the pegboard to be based on the measurement between the studs. The pegboard must cross over a stud and not extend more than 1 inch past a stud on each end, or the items hung on the end of the pegboard may cause the pegboard to pull away from the wall.

3. Set the pegboard of the chosen size against the wall. Mark the pegboard at the spots where the studs were found 1 inch from the top of the pegboard and at 4-inch intervals until you reach the end of the pegboard stopping one inch from the end. Create this line of spots on the pegboard over each stud.

4. Check the line against with a level to make sure it is straight and make any necessary adjustments.

5. Hammer in 2-inch wood nails into each pencil marking over each stud. Hammer the top nail and the last nail spot on each stud first to secure the pegboard to the wall before nailing the rest of the markings in between the two ends. Finish nailing the pegboard to the studs.
