Make The Akatsuki Shoes

Turn these into Akatsuki shoes.

Akatsuki, meaning "dawn" or "daybreak" in Japanese, is a criminal organization featured in the long-running Naruto anime and manga series. The criminal gang is well-known for the costume its members wear, and their distinctive shoes are a key part of this. They have a black shoe base with white leggings. The shoe itself takes little modification, so the leggings will be the hardest part.

Instructions

1. Measure your leg from your heel to knee, allowing for an extra 1/2 inch. Then measure from your ankle to your heel. If you are making the shoes for someone else, measure their leg from heel to knee. This is the length of the cloth required. Measure the circumference of their leg at the thickest part of the calve and again at the ankle.

2. Take the cloth and draw the measurements. Use a ruler to draw a straight horizontal line at the top using the calve measurement. Measure the length of the cloth down to the bottom and draw another horizontal line using the ankle measurement. Use a ruler to draw straight lines connecting the ends of the two lines. You will now have a box which is wider at the top than at the bottom.

3. Cut the cloth along those lines. Measure the width of your shoe and divide by two. Find the centre of the bottom line in the cloth. Draw a vertical line from this point toward the top using the length between your heel and your ankle. Cut along the line. Measure to the left and again to the right the half-width of your shoe. Cut from these points to the top of the original cut to make a triangle of cut-away cloth.

4. Sew or stitch the cloth together so the stitching is at the back of the leg when put on. Sew elastic into the top of the cloth by folding the extra cloth over and sewing it into place. The elastic will help keep the leg part of the shoe up.

5. Cut the toe area out of your shoe. It is essential that the toes are visible in Akatsuki shoes. It is best to use sturdy black work shoes.

6. Put the cloth on and check that it is comfortable enough -- not too tight and not too baggy. Put the shoe on and check if you need to shorten the cloth around the heels or adjust the cut over the top of your foot. The leggings do not have to be attached to the shoe to make Akatsuki shoes.
