Diy Closet Shoe Rack

Use a series of shoe racks to keep your shoes organized.

If you have more than a few pairs of shoes, proper storage is essential. Shoes can easily be lost, and clutter your closet, if thrown in a pile or stacked in boxes. If you have noticed that your shoes are eating closet space, a DIY closet shoe rack is a good choice for better organization. Mount a simple shoe rack into your closet to help organize your shoes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Use a pencil to mark the spot on one side of your closet where you want the rack to go.

2. Measure the distance from the floor to the pencil mark with a measuring tape.

3. Mark the same spot on the opposite wall.

4. Cut two 10-inch pieces of wood from a 1-by-2 board using a saw

5. Set one 10-inch piece of wood flush against the wall, directly beneath the pencil mark. This will be one of your shelf supports.

6. Hammer two or three nails into the board to hold it in place.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the opposite side.

8. Measure the distance from one wall of your closet to another.

9. Cut a piece of wood from a 1-by-12 board using the dimension you found in step 8.

10. Set the newly cut piece of wood on top of the shelf supports.

11. Repeat this process for a second shelf above the first. Look at the height of your shoes to determine how far apart the shelves should be. A collection that mostly consists of running shoes and flats will need shorter shelves than one consisting of stiletto heels and boots.
