Dresser Options For Smaller Bedrooms

Smaller dressers provide storage in a small bedroom.

When arranging the furniture in a smaller bedroom, you may find it challenging to place the furnishings in a pleasing arrangement while providing enough storage for your clothing. A traditional dresser can take up more space than you are willing to give up in your small bedroom. Alternative furnishings and arrangements of the pieces can free up the floor space in a small bedroom and provide the storage space you need for your belongings. Does this Spark an idea?

Chest of Drawers

Instead of using a traditional dresser, consider a chest of drawers to give you more floor space. A chest of drawers does not have the large surface space or mirror that a traditional dresser provides, but it does give you space to store your clothes. Use a chest of drawers to store your clothing and attach a mirror to the back of the bedroom door to provide you with the same benefits as a larger dresser and mirror combination. You can also include a small vanity table in a corner of the room to provide a place to store hair accessories, makeup and brushes.

Vertical Space

A smaller bedroom may not have the floor space to accommodate a large dresser, but the room likely has the same amount of vertical space as a larger bedroom. Tall chests and wardrobes provide a great deal of storage for clothing and accessories in the room. Wardrobes provide hanging space for clothing, drawers and hooks to accommodate your clothing.

Corner Units

Take advantage of the corners in a small bedroom to use the floor space as efficiently as possible. Chests and dressers are available that will fit snugly into the corner of a room without using up a great amount of the floor area.

Closet Dressers

When floor space is a premium in the room, tucking a dresser or small chest into a closet can provide storage for your clothing while leaving the bedroom uncluttered. Tucking away your clothing and drawers into the closet gives the smaller bedroom a more spacious appearance.

Loft Beds

Loft beds lift the bed up to the ceiling, which frees up the floor space for a standard dresser. By lifting the bed off the floor, you can choose any type and size furnishings for the smaller bedroom. The loft bed not only provides space for a dresser, but you can also include an area to sit and relax in your room.
