Organization allows us to maintain a neat environment, free of clutter, where you can find what you need when you need it. The process of organizing, whether for a walk-in closet or any other part of the house, takes a willingness to get rid of things you do not need and stick to whatever system you choose to use for storing your stuff. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Start by going through your closet with three boxes. Place everything from the closet that belongs somewhere else in one box; anything you wish to give away, sell or donate in another; and anything that should go in the trash, for example, shoes with holes or worn out clothing, in the third box. As soon as you are finished, dispose of the trash box, and arrange to get rid of the give away box to prevent them from lingering in your house.
2. Decide how you wish to sort the remaining clothing items. You can arrange them according to use, such as work, church and fun clothes; season; color; or any method that makes sense to you. Whatever method you choose, hang your clothes in the appropriate place and keep shoes, sweaters and other accessories in their proper places.
3. Use available shelving to hold folding sweaters, shoes or anything else you need to store in that closet. You could also keep non-clothing items like board games, a box of important documents or picture albums on the closet shelves. You may need to install more shelving or add storage bins to the floor of the closet. These are portable so you can rearrange them around the closet as needed.
