Small insects such as moths and carpet beetles lay their eggs on clothes, especially clothes made from animal products such as wool and silk. When the eggs hatch the larvae feed on the fabric. Instructions
1. Pull everything out of your closet, including clothes, shoes and anything else you have stored and place it on the carpet near the closet. Do not lay anything on your bedding or the insect larvae may infest your sheets.
2. Attach the hose attachment to your vacuum, and run it over all the shelves, hangers, light fixtures, and rods. Run the hose over the walls and ceiling of the closet. Remove the attachment and vacuum the floor of the closet. This will remove many insect larvae and prevent them from attacking your clothes further.
3. Reattach the vacuum hose and run it over any shoes or items you store in the closet. Return them to their place in the closet.
4. Wash all your clothes that have any natural fibers, or take them to a dry cleaner. The high temperatures of the washing and pressing process will kill any larvae in the fabrics.
5. Hang the clothes back up in garment bags. Any clothes that you won't be wearing for more than a month, such as off-season clothes or sentimental pieces, store in airtight containers or garment bags.
6. Wrap an insect-repellent cedar black in a plastic bag and hang it inside each garment bag. Wrap one in paper and insert it into each airtight container.
