Install Folding Closet Doors

Install Folding Closet Doors

Folding closet doors allow complete access to the entire opening. They are commonly used for pantries, laundry rooms and closets. Folding doors are designed to be used singularly for standard-sized doors and in pairs for large door openings. The doors come in a variety of styles from plain solid-surface doors, to paneled and mirrored that meet about any need conceivable. In cases where openings are oddly sized, there are companies that take special orders for custom door sizes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the opening where the door is to go from the top to the floor and from side to side. Subtract 1 inch from the width and 2 inches from the height. Purchase the right size doors to fill the door opening.

2. Center the metal track in the top of the door threshold, drill pilot holes and mount the track securely with the included screws. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully as some tracks require a particular placement.

3. Place the floor brackets centered at the bottom of the threshold, one on each wall side. Insert the fixed pivot point arms into the pre-drilled holes at the bottom of the door, and the two spring-loaded pivot points into the top holes.

4. Lift the door carefully and slip the bottom pivot points into the bracket at a slight angle. With the pivot point in place, return the door to an upright position and compress the spring-loaded pivot points to pop them into the top track.

5. Test the doors by repeatedly opening and closing them to verify that the pivot points will not pop out, and that the door is centered properly with no pinching.
