Hang a Door Mirror on a Closet Door
It is impossible to check your total appearance without a full body mirror. Having the ability to make a quick, last-minute check can help you avoid leaving the house with a dryer sheet stuck to the back of your clothes or a sock sticking out of the bottom of your pants leg. Hanging a mirror on your closet door is the ideal solution to seeing how you look before you walk out the door. When you hang a mirror, the most important thing to consider is how you anchor it--you don't want the mirror falling off of the door. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Ask a helper to hold the mirror on your closet door while you stand back and look into the mirror. Center the mirror on the door and adjust the height so you can view your whole body.
2. Trace around the mirror frame lightly with a pencil while it is still up against the door, and then lay the mirror flat on the floor with the mirrored side facing down.
3. Insert the tube of liquid nails into the caulking gun and apply a bead all the way around the back of the mirror at least 2 inches in from the outside edge. Apply two beads of liquid nails down the center of the mirror from top to bottom. Space the beads of liquid nails at least 3 inches apart.
4. Press your mirror to the door and apply pressure so that the liquid nails make contact with your closet door. Apply strips of masking tape to your mirror frame and your door to keep the mirror from potentially sliding while you insert your toggle bolts.
5. Use your variable speed drill and a 3/8-inch drill bit to drill a hole in each corner of the mirror frame and into the door. Press the winged end of the toggle bolts into the holes that you drilled.
6. Tighten the toggles by using a Philips head screwdriver. A variable speed drill can tighten the bolts too quickly. Remove any masking tape from your mirror frame.
