Give every cabinet in the home a stylish makeover.
Cabinets often end up as a receptacle for clutter and chaos. Make a plan for organization that is also aesthetically pleasing. Stay in complementing color tones, use decorative storage containers and keep the cabinet system functional. The results will ensure that cabinet doors can remain open with no concern about someone seeing inside. Does this Spark an idea?
Bathroom Cabinets
Cabinets in your bathroom should look sleek and clean, with a touch of luxury, especially for guest bathrooms. Fold towels. roll them into a cylindrical shape, and secure them with a ribbon that coordinates with your décor. You can also fold towels as you normally would, top them with hand towel and washcloth, and tie the three items together with a bow. Don't keep bathroom items in their boxes as they often don't match. Put often-used items, such as cotton balls and swabs, in clear glass containers. Put items that you don't want in view, such as personal grooming or hygiene products, in decorative boxes or baskets and label them with simple words or phrases such as "Hair" or "Makeup."
Jewelry Cabinets
Turn your medicine cabinet into jewelry storage by cutting velvet to fit on the shelving, walls and doors. Screw hooks on the back of the wall to hang bracelets. Tie a rope horizontally, attached to tacks at either side, and use it to hold necklaces. Use small decorative boxes or jewelry boxes to keep rings. Use a piece of velvet-covered poster board that can come in and out to hold earrings. Simply poke the posts through the board, and secure them at the back.
Kitchen Cabinets
Cupboards and pantry cabinets can quickly become cluttered, but when they are organized, they make a meal seams like a breeze. Use see-through canisters for grains, pasta and beans. Do the same thing for dry baking goods, but label the canisters so flour isn't mistaken for sugar. Hang racks on the inside of cabinet doors to hold pots and pans, giving the cabinets more interior space. Try stacking matching dinner plates and salad bowls on a tray so that when a tray is removed from the cabinet, it contains instant dinner party place settings. Sort dishes, not just by size, but by function, like putting a tea pot next to tea cups and saucers. Small tension rods, placed vertically, can separate platters, trays and cutting boards.
