An easy nun's costume can be made from items already in your closet.

Choose your type of nun outfit you wish to emulate -- they differ in the styles of their outfits and habits -- and make it yourself. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose a source image to base the nun's costume on. Nun costumes can differ in the color of their robes and the shape of their habits (head dress).

2. Look for a long black robe. The robe should be about ankle length with long, wide sleeves. A black, brown or blue graduation robe is a nearly an exact match to modern day nun's robes.

3. Use a white long-sleeve turtleneck underneath a large robe or use a mock turtleneck with a bib over top of a slim-fitting robe.

4. Make a habit with a piece of cotton fabric that matches the color of the robe. Hem the edges of a 30 inch by 30 inch piece of the cotton and either sew or glue a 1 inch white trim to one edge. Wear the habit by pinning the white trimmed edge along the hair line and behind the ears; let the rest of the habit to drape down the back.

5. Tie the robe at the waist with a white cotton rope.

6. Wear a rosary or crucifix around the neck.

7. Carry a small bible if you have one handy.
