Diy Closet Shelf

Additional shelving in a closet helps you prevent messes.

Adding a shelf to your closet allows you to store more objects inside it. It also allows you to get objects that don't see much use off of the floor and the hangers. More shelves make for a more orderly layout and it also improves accessibility to the items that you want. Making your own shelf for the closet is a straightforward procedure that makes a permanent improvement to your living space. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Determine where you want the shelf to sit and mark that spot on one side of the closet using a pencil.

2. Measure the distance from the pencil mark to the floor.

3. Measure the same distance on the opposite side of the closet and mark the height with a pencil as well. The pencil marks are where the supports from the shelf are going to sit.

4. Cut two 10-inch pieces from a 1x2 board.

5. Lay one cut piece flat against one of the closet walls, directly underneath the pencil spot, fitting the short end into the back corner of the closet. It should be oriented horizontally.

6. Nail the cut piece into place.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the other side.

8. Measure the distance from one closet wall to the other.

9. Cut a piece from a 1x12 board using the measurement you found in step 8.

10. Lay the board on top of the two supports.
